Benchmarking Green Building Products

About

This blog is part of Green Building Pages, an eight year old service that provides transparent and accountable information on green building products and materials.

To father the raw facts, GBP asks lots of questions and then ranks the answers based on Green Buildings Pages Sustainability Benchmarketing system. It’s the first step filter to give specifiers, architects, designers, builders or consumers a complete pro/con look at what makes the product green. The higher the green performance, the higher the ranking on the lists. Unlike paid advertising directories, companies cannot buy their way to the top of lists via marketing dollars. They can, however, put their money into solid product design. Products with the highest sustainable “performance” rating will be the ones listed first.

Those with SMaRT Certification (due to it’s high sustainable performance requirements) will always be featured on the top of the list. SMaRT employs a full Life Cycle Assessment covering the 12 environmental impacts across the entire supply chain. The final LCA documentation is audited by Ernst and Young on a global basis.
